Dear People of St. Andrew’s,
It was wonderful to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection with you on Sunday. May you be blessed by the victory our Saviour Jesus has won over death and sin!
It was wonderful, too, to see so many present. Person after person stood up as their names were read during the announcements: people who came for the first time or after a handful of visits; people who came who have been regular in the past; and also people who heard the call to invite others to church. There were so many of you who invited or were invited. And so many came, and not just on Sunday, but throughout Holy Week.
As I watched as more and more people stood at Lauretta’s invitation, I remarked “Who are these like stars appearing?”, quoting a hymn praising the saints. I meant it sincerely: you are, and we are, stars. We are the holy members (saints = holy ones) of Christ’s church, blessed and made whole, and made holy, in the resurrection of Jesus. My thanks go to all of you for participating and being the Body of Christ together. We have just begun our celebratory Easter season - I hope to see you again this Sunday!
Last week I shared pictures from Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. Below are some pictures that chart our journey from Maundy Thursday through to Easter Sunday, with thanks again to Lauretta Brown-Hermanstyne. I hope you find joy in them, as I do.
May this week be full of the knowledge of God’s blessings. Amen.
Yours in Christ,
Jake+
